> Water Regulations
(WRAS)
Water Byelaws have been a fact of life
for plumbers for as long as most of us can remember.
On 1st July 1999 local Water Byelaws were replaced by
the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.
The aims of this course are to allow
you to:
- become familiar with the contents of the Water Supply
(Water Fittings) Regulations 1999
- generally understand what the Regulations mean,
and recognise the role of the Regulations in preventing
waste, misuse, undue consumption, contamination and
erroneous measurement of water
- know how to comply with the Regulations in practice
- be aware of the primary legislation underpinning
the Regulations
- have an understanding of the documents to enhance
and explain the meaning of the regulations in particular:
- the Regulator's Specification on the Prevention
of Backflow
- the WRAS Water Regulations Guide
This course is aimed at practising
plumbers who already have a knowledge of hot and cold
water systems, water inspectors and anyone involved
in installation, design or specification of water systems
or with buildings containing water systems and learners
with limited previous knowledge.
A self-study manual is provided in
advance of the course and it is recommended that this
is studied for at least four weeks.
Training & Assessment
Half a day each is spent on training
and assessment. These run concurrently so can be achieved
in one day. It is against regulations for the assessment
to be taken without the training.
Course Pre-requisites
Limited previous knowledge of the Water
Regulations; self-study of the Water Regulations manual
provided.
