> Part P Electrics
From the 1st January 2005, electrical
work on circuit extensions/modifications in “special
locations” and new circuits in dwellings must
be notified to the local Building Control Officer before
work starts unless the person carrying out the work
is capable of self-certifying their own work.
Special locations in dwellings are
essentially kitchens, bathrooms, integral garages or
gardens.
We offer two courses which may be taken in different
ways depending on your electrical experience and qualifications
(click a course name for more information):
We are finding that most people are
opting for the EAL course. It does not cost that much
more than the others yet provides a Full Scope Lifetime
Qualification as a "Domestic Electrical Installer" rather
than one that has to be renewed every five years.
This allows the holder to work under
Corgi and Oftec registrations yet extends the work range
to NICEIC (and similar scheme) registration.
1 Non-electricians
means an experienced person who works with electrics
as a part of their job but who are not qualified electricians
- examples include gas engineers, oil engineers, plumbers,
kitchen fitters, landscape gardeners, etc.
2 Updates may be required
as regulations change however this qualification will
not automatically expire on a predetermined date.
